What is a domain name ?
A domain name is a unique name that identifies your website on the Internet. Every website on the Internet has one, as well as every email address. Domains are human readable Internet addresses, for example: www.tqhosting.co.uk
What domain name should i register ?
In order for people to find you website they will need to remember your domain name and type it easily into their browser. With this in mind try to pick / register the shortest name that your customers and visitors will associate with your website. Try to avoid words which are hard to spell, and don't overuse numbers and shortened versions of words as they can be more difficult to remember.
How long will it take for my new domain name to become active ?
Domains are registered as soon as you order them, however it can take between 24 and 72 hours for them to become visible on the Internet.
Can I buy a domain name, but not buy web hosting ?
Yes, you do not have to buy the web hosting when you buy a domain name. If you decide to add web hosting in the future you can easily upgrade with one of our feature rich hosting packages starting from as little as £4.49
What can I do with my domain ?
Domain names can be used to point at your website as well as give you a personalised e-mail address, eg www.yourname.com for your website and yourfirstname@yourname.com for your e-mail address.
Do I own the domain name ?
When you complete the registration form we will ALWAYS register that name under the details you provide. You can register a name under your business name, for a friend or family member. You remain the legal owner of the domain at all times.
How do I know if my name is available ?
Our domain search is the best in the business, searching domains directly on the registrar to ensure that you receive the most up-to-date information possible. Additionally, we suggest other domains to make sure you can protect your brand name.
Can I transfer the domain at any time ?
Yes, you can, and we provide a control panel so that you can make these changes yourself at any time and that's all included in the price.
How do I renew a domain with TQ Hosting ?
We will contact customers via email about 30 days before the domain is due for renewal. You can then decide whether to renew the domain name or not. For this reason, we always ask customers to ensure that their email address is valid, working and up-to-date, to ensure they get such messages.
What if I already have a Domain Name ?
If you already have a domain name hosted with another company but wish to become a member of TQ Hosting's growing number of hosted sites, you can still have your name transferred to us. Simply use our order process to search for your current domain name and then click that you want to transfer the domain to us. You'll receive full details of how to complete the transfer by email once your order is complete.
Can I sell the domain to somebody else ?
Yes you can. It's yours to do with as you please. For all non .uk domains, we provide the facility in the control panel to change the owner details for a domain at any time. For .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk domains, such changes have to be made through the naming authority Nominet who can advise you on the procedure.

Do the prices listed include or exclude VAT ?
All prices exclude VAT except where stated. VAT is charged on all purchases at the current standard rate.
Do I get an invoice ?
Yes, every time you buy a product from us we will email you an invoice, invoices are also available to view and print at any time in your control panel.
